It is wonderful to see my students growing in confidence. Some of those Y7s first came for tuition when they were in Y5 and were really struggling with their maths - now they have mastered those 'troublesome' concepts (all reached the required standard in the new SATs this year) and have already started working, with me, on the Key Stage 3 curriculum. They seem completely ready for the challenges of their respective high schools and I am sure they will continue to flourish.
It has certainly been a great week, here in Diss Maths Tutor Land. Every student this week has been asked if they have had a good day or week at school. Every single one of them has reported that they've enjoyed the beginning of term. Many were worried that the work would be too hard, but it seems that their teachers have been kind. Those who have encountered a new school (Year 7) certainly seem excited about their new experiences and have stated that 'making new friends' has been the highlight of their experience.

I would just like to wish all of my students the best for tomorrow. All of you a starting a new school year, some of you will have a new teacher and a new classroom and some are moving to a new school and a new Key Stage. I am sure that you are all a little excited and a little nervous, too. Harness that excitement and nervousness to enable you to make a good start to the new school year and I know that you will have many successes.
Some of my students are going to be starting High School on Monday. I saw this article online and thought I would share it.
www.telegraph.co.uk/education/2016/09/02/secondary-school-top-tips-for-parents-at-the-start-of-the-journe/ Due to some recent changes - some people changing their tuition day, two additional sessions and a student no longer requiring my help, these are the times I currently have available for a regular weekly lesson.
Monday - 7.30am - 8.30am (I am able to take the student to a nearby school for the beginning of the day if required). Saturday - 4.00pm - 5.00pm |
