For serving teachers, professional development is an important part of maintaining standards of teaching and learning and keeping up to date with recent educational developments.
As a tutor I feel that I need to maintain and upgrade my skills as far as possible. Not all professional development is necessarily subject based. During the current academic year I have participated in professional development specifically designed to support teaching of the new 9-1 maths GCSE and also attended the Norfolk County Council Safeguarding Children course. I have also taken part in a webinar addressing 'Maths Learning Difficulties & Dyscalculia' lead by Professor Steve Chinn PhD FRSA. His website can be found at www.stevechinn.co.uk
